Glenn Venturini (Boys Track Head Coach)

A former PA high school state champion and 4:08 miler at the University of Oklahoma, Glenn has the following degrees: BS in Education from the University of Oklahoma, Masters degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Pittsburgh, Associate degree in Science (physical therapy assistant) from Harcum College, Masters degree in Physical Therapy from Neumann University. Glenn is the President of Optimum Physical Therapy Associates in Swarthmore and West Chester.

He has worked with professional, college, high school and youth athletes, hosted several coaching clinics involving youth sport injury and prevention, including two local running symposiums with Jack Daniels, PhD a world renowned distance coach as the guest speaker. Glenn is also a certified level one USA Track & Field Coach and the head boys cross country coach at Strath Haven High School.

Glenn has been coaching SJC Track and Cross Country since 1999. Glenn and Marian were married in 1978 and have 5 children, all participated in the SJC CYO track program.

Glenn's coaching philosophy revolves around the fact that fun and safety come first, teaching the skill is secondary. When play is mixed in with training it can lead to success because the children can become fully engaged in an activity that they enjoy. Additionally, recognition of a child's success in front of their peers no matter how trivial, sometimes boosts confidence. When a child begins to gain confidence in their chosen activity whether it be in sports, the arts or academics; the teacher, instructor or coach has a window of opportunity to further advance knowledge and skill. When this is done in a fun way, it is a win-win situation. Coaching at this level is not about winning, it's about conservative training, teaching fundamentals, reinforcing positive behavior and having fun all under the banner of our Christian faith.
